Sat Nov 15 23:10:00 UTC 2025: Oxford QB Knox Kiffin Leads Chargers to Playoff Win with Celebrity Support
OXFORD, MS – Oxford High School quarterback Knox Kiffin, son of Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin, led the Chargers to a decisive 42-6 victory over Hernando in the first round of the MHSAA Class 7A playoffs on Thursday, Nov 14. The sophomore signal-caller put on a strong performance, completing 8 of 15 passes for 93 yards and two touchdowns.
Kiffin had a notable support system in the stands, including his father, comedian Theo Von, and Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss. “It was great,” Knox Kiffin said of the support. “I really appreciate them coming. Especially Trinidad, who has a game tomorrow, and Theo, who doesn’t need to come but still came. It was really cool.”
While Kiffin managed the game effectively, Oxford’s running game proved to be the dominant force. Running back Demar Jameson ran for 109 yards and scored four touchdowns.
Kiffin highlighted the effectiveness of their game plan: “They are gonna drop cover four and all that,” Knox Kiffin said. “They can’t guard the run if they want to go deep. Demar just had a night.”
The win was particularly sweet for Knox Kiffin, who took over as the starter on Oct. 24. Former starting quarterback Drew Dean saw action in the later stages of the game after the score was out of reach.
Lane Kiffin, who was present at the game, emphasized his role as a supportive father, stating, “I stay out of it. I think (Oxford) Coach (Chris) Cutcliffe does a great job with the team, with the offense, with the quarterbacks specifically. I just was never going to be that parent because I’ve dealt with a lot of parents like that and especially at that position. I try to be the refreshing quarterback parent.”
Knox Kiffin, a Class of 2028 recruit, has already garnered eight college offers. Schools such as SMU, Arkansas State, and Western Kentucky have already extended offers. He has also recently visited LSU and Alabama.
