Andhra Pradesh Revenue Growth “Alarmingly Slow,” Says YSRCP Leader Jagan Mohan Reddy

Vijayawada, India – November 16, 2025 – Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, President of the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP), has launched a scathing critique of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government, citing official Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) data indicating a significant slowdown in Andhra Pradesh’s revenue growth.

Reddy, in a statement posted on X, pointed to a mere 7.03% year-on-year growth in the State’s own tax revenues for the first half of FY 2025-26. He highlighted an even more concerning 2.85% growth in GST and Sales Tax revenues, key indicators of consumer spending. He added that Capital expenditure declined -16% over the last two years.

Reddy contrasted these figures with the claimed 12.02% Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) growth in FY 2024–25 and a target of 17.1% in FY 2025–26 touted by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, arguing that the revenue performance does not support such high growth claims.

“When revenues and economic growth were aligned under our government, how can Mr. Naidu now claim the State is progressing swiftly despite negligible revenue growth?” he asked.

He further accused the current government of excessive borrowing, claiming they have already taken on ₹2,06,959 crore in loans, a substantial portion of the debt incurred during the YSRCP’s entire five-year term. He argued, “They are borrowing at breakneck speed without improving revenues or investing in development.”
