Shevchenko Dominates Weili at UFC 322, Retains Flyweight Title

NEW YORK, NY – Valentina “Bullet” Shevchenko showcased her dominance once again at UFC 322, defeating Strawweight Champion Zhang Weili in a dominant performance to retain her flyweight title. The fight took place at Madison Square Garden in New York City, and was one of the key event of the evening.

Shevchenko (15-3-1), a legend in women’s MMA, controlled the fight from the opening bell. The 37-year-old Kyrgyzstani fighter (of Russian descent) successfully implemented her game plan, utilizing her superior striking in the first round and wrestling prowess in the subsequent rounds to keep Weili (10-2 in UFC) off balance. Shevchenko repeatedly took the fight to the ground, maintaining control and preventing Weili from mounting any significant offense.

The scorecards reflected Shevchenko’s dominance, with the judges awarding her a unanimous decision victory after five rounds.

“Valentina proved once again why she is the best female fighter in the UFC,” the speaker said after the fight.

The victory marks another successful title defense for Shevchenko, who regained the flyweight championship in September 2024 after defeating Alexa Grasso in a trilogy bout. Her last fight before this was in May 2025, where she defeated Manon Fiorot. With this win, Shevchenko reasserts her position as the queen of the flyweight division, leaving no doubts about her status as one of the top female fighters in the world.
