Sat Nov 15 14:15:10 UTC 2025: Mysuru Residents Demand Action on Rampant Footpath Encroachments
Mysuru, India – November 15, 2025 – The Federation of Organisations and Associations of Mysuru (FOAM) is calling on city authorities to address the increasing problem of footpath encroachments that are forcing pedestrians onto busy roads. In a press release issued today, FOAM President B.S. Prashanth highlighted the occupation of footpaths by street vendors in key areas like M.G. Road and Sayyaji Rao Road, leaving little to no space for pedestrians.
According to FOAM, the rise in the number of food carts and vegetable vendors operating on footpaths, particularly on M.G. Road, is making it increasingly difficult and dangerous for residents to navigate the city. Mr. Prashanth also raised concerns about the unhygienic conditions of some roadside food units, posing potential public health risks.
FOAM is urging the Mysuru City Police and the Mysuru City Corporation to launch a comprehensive drive to clear the encroached footpaths and ensure safe walking spaces for the public. The organization emphasizes the need for immediate action to prioritize pedestrian safety and hygiene in the city.
