Kalaburagi, November 15, 2025 – In a proactive move to equip students with essential skills for the digital age, Deputy Commissioner B. Fouzia Taranum inaugurated an awareness programme on Digital Literacy and Cyber Safety at Government College (Autonomous), Kalaburagi, on Friday. The initiative, conducted under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme, aims to empower both male and female students to navigate the online world safely and responsibly.
Deputy Commissioner Taranum emphasized the critical need for digital literacy and cyber safety skills, stating, “Every child today must understand digital literacy and cyber safety. It is essential for both girls and boys to receive proper training so that they can protect themselves and use technology responsibly.” She encouraged students, especially girls, to draw inspiration from accomplished women and strive for excellence.
College Principal Savita Tiwari echoed the sentiment, highlighting the transformative power of education for girls and its positive impact on families and the nation. Arts Dean Vijaykumar Salimani pointed to Deputy Commissioner Taranum herself as a shining example of female achievement, citing her national recognition for good governance.
Cybercrime expert Sanjeev Kumar Kambarge cautioned students about the dangers of technology misuse, particularly online targeting of young girls. He urged students to report any cybercrime incidents without hesitation.
During the event, NCC achiever Ashmita and sports achiever Swapna Reddy were honored for their outstanding accomplishments. Additional Superintendent of Police Mahesh Megannavar, Ravindra Kumar Bhandari, officials from the Women and Child Development Department, college faculty members, and students were also present at the event.
