Modi Predicts Congress Split After Bihar Election Drubbing, Accuses Party of Divisive Politics
New Delhi: Following the NDA’s decisive victory in the Bihar Assembly elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has predicted a potential split within the Congress party. In an address to BJP workers, Modi accused the Congress of engaging in divisive politics, criticizing the Election Commission, and making frivolous complaints of “vote chori.”
“The Congress has no positive vision for the country,” Modi stated, alleging the party had become the “Muslim League Maoist Congress,” driven by a divisive agenda. He claimed this has led to growing internal dissent and the emergence of a faction even more extreme in its negative politics.
“I have a suspicion that there may be another big division of Congress in the future,” Modi added, suggesting Congress supporters are realizing the party’s negative approach is detrimental to its allies.
Modi’s remarks come as the Congress suffered a significant setback in the Bihar elections. The party’s seat count dwindled from 19 in 2020 to approximately five this year, with its vote share also declining. This poor performance, coupled with a lackluster campaign and alleged seat-sharing disagreements with ally RJD, has fueled speculation about the party’s future. The NDA is projected to win around 200 of Bihar’s 243 seats. The BJP emerged as the single-largest party, reaffirming the popularity of PM Modi.
