Headline: Uttar Pradesh Government Boosts Tribal Welfare Programs on Bhagwan Birsa Munda Anniversary
Lucknow, November 14, 2025 – Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath today reiterated his government’s commitment to the welfare and inclusion of tribal communities across the state, speaking at the Janjati Bhagidari Utsav at the Indira Gandhi Pratishthan, commemorating the legacy of tribal icon Bhagwan Birsa Munda.
Adityanath highlighted the progress made in education and access to government schemes for tribal communities, noting that all reserved posts for Scheduled Tribes were filled in the recent recruitment of 60,244 police personnel.
The Chief Minister detailed the “Dharti Aba Janjati Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan,” an initiative designed to equip all Scheduled Tribe settlements with essential facilities. The program targets 47 blocks and 517 villages in 26 districts, with a focus on areas like Sonbhadra, Ballia, and Lalitpur. The government aims to provide housing, electricity, drinking water, pensions, ration cards, and Ayushman Bharat health benefits to the Tharu, Musahar, Chero, Buksa, Saharia, Kol, and Gaur tribes.
Adityanath emphasized the historical significance of the year, marking 150 years since the birth of both Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and Bhagwan Birsa Munda. He lauded Birsa Munda’s sacrifice and his inspiring call for self-governance, “Apna Desh, Apna Raj.”
“The double-engine government is committed to restoring tribal pride, ensuring their security, preserving their cultural heritage, and fulfilling the aspirations of the tribal community with empathy and inclusivity,” Adityanath said.
Tourism Minister Jaiveer Singh, Social Welfare Minister Asim Arun, and other officials were also present at the event.
