Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj Party Fails to Win a Single Seat in Bihar Election, Mirroring Kishor’s Own Prediction
Patna, Bihar – In a stunning outcome, Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj Party (JSP) failed to win a single seat in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, a result that shockingly aligns with Kishor’s own pre-election forecast. The election strategist had boldly stated that the JSP would either win “fewer than 10 seats or over 150,” and the final count confirmed the former, leaving many questioning the party’s future.
Despite contesting in 238 constituencies, the JSP failed to secure a lead in any. Initial momentum in four constituencies quickly evaporated as vote counting progressed, leaving the party at zero by the first round. This outcome validated exit poll predictions, which largely anticipated a weak performance from Kishor’s newly formed party. While one survey projected the JSP could win nearly 10% of the vote, exceeding even the Congress party, the party’s support failed to translate into seats.
Two weeks before the Bihar Assembly elections in an exclusive conversation with IndiaToday, Prashant Kishor had stated, “We’ll either get fewer than 10 seats or over 150. We won’t stop there. Because so much discussion has taken place. People have understood that this is the path to ending Bihar’s plight. Now, if the people take a leap of faith, all equations will be proven wrong. And if they don’t, even after hearing and understanding everything, it’s possible that we’ll win fewer than 10 seats.”
Meanwhile, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Janata Dal (United) alliance, bolstered by allies like Chirag Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party, is poised for a sweeping victory. As of 11:30 am during the counting process, the alliance was leading in 190 seats, confirming pre-election expectations of a decisive win. Just over an hour into counting, the alliance exceeded the majority threshold of 122 seats, suggesting the potential for complete dominance in the Bihar Assembly.
The JSP’s complete shutout raises serious questions about Kishor’s political strategy. While his pre-election prediction proved accurate, his ambition to reshape Bihar’s political landscape as a third force remains unrealized. With the NDA consolidating its power, Kishor will likely need to reevaluate his approach before any future electoral endeavors.
The BJP-JDU alliance’s victory further solidifies its hold on Bihar’s electorate and diminishes the immediate relevance of new challengers such as the JSP.
