Mysuru MLC Promises Shelter for Newspaper Distributors
Mysuru, India – November 14, 2025 – MLC K. Shivakumar pledged to support newspaper distributors in Mysuru by facilitating the construction of a shelter for their use. Speaking at a felicitation program organized by the Newspaper Distributors’ Welfare Association at Dufferin Clock Tower, Shivakumar acknowledged the crucial role distributors play in ensuring the timely delivery of newspapers to readers.
He highlighted the distributors’ dedication, even during the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic. Shivakumar assured them that if the Mysuru City Corporation designates a suitable location, he will work towards establishing a shelter for sorting and bundling newspapers.
Acknowledging the shift towards digital news, Shivakumar encouraged distributors to remain optimistic. He also advised students working as distributors to balance their part-time work with their education, and reminded distributors of existing government health insurance and pledged additional financial assistance for those facing significant medical expenses.
The event also saw the presence of Karnataka Rajyothsava awardee 2025 Amshi Prasanna Kumar, KUWJ representative B. Raghavendra, and members of the Newspaper Distributors’ Welfare Association.
