The Second Additional District and Sessions Court judge, V.N. Jagadeesh, delivered the verdict on Thursday, November 13th, finding Naika guilty under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The chargesheet revealed that Naika and Chetan, both canteen workers at the college, had ongoing disputes. In the early hours of October 30th, Naika attacked Chetan with an iron rod while he was sleeping, continuing the assault despite attempts by colleagues Rajesh Poojary and Shankar to intervene. Naika also damaged Chetan’s mobile phone. Chetan succumbed to his injuries at Alva’s Hospital.
