Congress Celebrates Lead in Jubilee Hills Bypoll, Cites Welfare Scheme Success

HYDERABAD, November 14, 2025 – Jubilant Congress party workers erupted in celebrations across Hyderabad today as their candidate, Naveen Yadav V, established a commanding lead in the Jubilee Hills byelection. As of the sixth round of counting, Mr. Yadav is ahead by a significant margin of 15,797 votes.

The celebrations began at Gandhi Bhavan in Nampally and Yousufguda, with party members lighting fireworks and distributing sweets. Prominent leaders, including Hyderabad in-charge Minister Ponnam Prabhakar and Labour Minister Vivek Venkataswamy, joined in the festivities.

Mr. Prabhakar attributed the party’s strong performance to the public’s endorsement of the Congress’s welfare initiatives, such as free power units, interest-free loans for women, and affordable housing. He criticized the BJP and BRS for attempting to damage the government’s reputation despite its ongoing implementation of beneficial schemes.

“People in the constituency opted for development and people’s governance,” Prabhakar stated, urging party members to extend the celebrations to all villages.

The Jubilee Hills byelection was necessitated by the death of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLA Maganti Gopinath in June. His wife, Maganti Sunitha, was the BRS candidate in this election.

The voter turnout for the byelection, held on Tuesday, was 48.49%, with 194,631 voters participating out of a total of 401,354 registered voters. The final results are expected later today.
