Fri Nov 14 07:50:00 UTC 2025: BJP Leads in Tight Chapra Assembly Race; Bhojpuri Star Khesari Lal Yadav Trails

Chapra, Bihar – The counting of votes in the Chapra Assembly constituency is underway, with a nail-biting contest unfolding. Bhojpuri superstar Khesari Lal Yadav, representing the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), is facing a tough challenge from the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate, Chhoti Kumari.

After five rounds of counting, Kumari of the BJP is leading with 15,418 votes, while Yadav trails with 12,509 votes. Similar trends were observed in the third round of counting, where Kumari secured 5,840 votes compared to Yadav’s 4,312.

The Chapra seat, part of the Saran Lok Sabha constituency, has historically been a stronghold for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). In 2010, Janardan Singh Sigriwal of the BJP won the seat with a significant margin, securing 61,045 votes. The BJP continued its dominance in 2015 when Dr. C.N. Gupta emerged victorious despite the “Mahagathbandhan” wave in the state. Gupta secured 71,646 votes, defeating RJD’s Randhir Kumar Singh, who received 60,267 votes. The BJP’s winning streak continued in 2020, with Dr. C.N. Gupta securing 75,710 votes and defeating Randhir Kumar Singh of the RJD by a margin of 19,163 votes.

While the BJP has maintained a strong hold on the Chapra constituency, the RJD’s vote share has seen a gradual increase over time. The current election result hangs in the balance, with the remaining rounds of counting expected to be crucial in determining the final outcome. All eyes remain on Chapra as the results unfold.
