Delhi Capitals Eye Klaasen, Green to Bolster Middle Order, Says Aakash Chopra

New Delhi, India – Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra believes the Delhi Capitals (DC) need to strengthen their middle order for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season and has suggested potential targets for the team at the auction.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Chopra highlighted the inconsistency of DC’s middle order in the previous season, stating that relying solely on Tristan Stubbs is not enough. He pointed out that the team’s experimented with different players like Karun Nair, Sameer Rizwi and Ashutosh Sharma in the middle-order but that they are not enough to support Stubbs. “You will need another player in the middle order” Chopra Said.

“This is a team that can go towards Cameron Green, and if anywhere Heinrich Klaasen gets released and comes in, then this team can also go towards Heinrich Klaasen. ” Chopra added.

Chopra emphasized that DC’s spin department, anchored by Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, and Vipraj Nigam, is already strong. He suggested that releasing some of their Indian fast bowlers like Mohit Sharma, Mukesh Kumar and T Natrajan could free up funds to acquire overseas pace options and address the batting concerns.

Chopra also stressed the need for DC to settle their opening partnership, which was inconsistent last season. The team rotated through multiple openers, failing to find a reliable combination.

The IPL mini-auction is scheduled for December 16 in Abu Dhabi, where DC will have the opportunity to execute their strategy and bolster their squad for the upcoming season.
