NDA Poised for Landslide Victory in Bihar, Nitish Kumar Set for Fifth Term
Patna, Bihar – The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is on track for a resounding victory in the Bihar Assembly elections, with current trends indicating a lead in 202 out of 243 seats. This positions Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for a historic fifth consecutive term.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated the victory at BJP headquarters in Delhi, congratulating the people of Bihar for their record voter turnout and reaffirming their faith in democracy. He also used the occasion to criticize the Congress party, stating that it has no positive vision for the country and that he had warned Congress’ allies that the party is a parasite and a liability for them. PM Modi said the Bihar assembly win is the beginning of a new era and the state will progress faster in the next five years.
While the NDA exceeded its 2020 performance, where it secured 122 seats, the Mahagathbandhan is currently leading in 33 seats. Tejashwi Yadav of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) secured a win in Raghopur by over 11,000 votes. Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj party failed to win any seats.
The Bihar Assembly elections saw a historic voter turnout of 67.13% across two phases held on November 6 and 11. Counting began at 8 am.
