Fri Nov 14 05:20:00 UTC 2025: Bihar Election Results: NDA Secures Victory, Nitish Kumar Remains Key

Patna, Bihar – The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has secured a victory in the Bihar Assembly elections, with the Janata Dal (United) (JD(U)), led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leading in a significant number of seats. While the JD(U) and BJP are competing for the position of single-largest party, the NDA’s overall performance has solidified its hold on the state.

Nitish Kumar’s continued influence in Bihar politics is a major highlight. His ability to unite diverse social groups, including Extremely Backward Classes (EBCs), Mahadalits, and non-Yadav Other Backward Classes (OBCs), coupled with strong support from women voters, has made him an unshakable force. Despite fluctuations in seat tallies over the years, Kumar consistently holds the key to power.

Another notable development is the impressive performance of Chirag Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) [LJP(RV)], which is leading in over 20 of the 29 seats it contested. Paswan’s success has defied critics and strengthened his position within the NDA, adding a crucial Paswan/Dalit vote base and positioning him as a serious contender in Bihar’s future political landscape.

In contrast, the Congress party has faced a significant setback, struggling to secure a minimal number of seats. The party’s shift towards backward and EBC politics appears to have alienated its traditional support base without gaining new voters.

Meanwhile, in Kashmir, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is poised to win the Budgam constituency, marking a significant breakthrough against the National Conference (NC). This victory is attributed to PDP’s grassroots efforts and internal discord within the NC.

Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj, despite generating considerable buzz, failed to secure any seats. This outcome highlights the challenges of technocratic politics in Bihar, where voters prioritize familiarity and local connections.
