“Mistletoe Murders” Returns for Season 2, Cast Endures Summer Heat to Bring Winter Charm

TORONTO – Hallmark’s “Mistletoe Murders,” a cozy crime series starring Sarah Drew (“Grey’s Anatomy”) and Peter Mooney, is set to return for its second season on November 7th. The show, which follows Drew as a Christmas store owner with a shadowy past and Mooney as the local police officer in the quaint town of Fletcher’s Grove, is known for its festive atmosphere and satisfying crime resolutions.

However, behind the idyllic winter wonderland lies a challenging reality for the actors. Filmed in southern Ontario during the summer months, the cast must brave sweltering heat to portray the snowy setting. “It was so much more brutal in Season 1, when we were out on that back lot in probably one of the worst heat waves,” Drew recalled. Mooney praised Drew’s dedication, noting, “When it’s 36 degrees with the humidity…she’ll shiver and pull her coat up. That’s acting, baby.”

Despite the challenges, both actors are thrilled about the show’s renewal. Drew admitted she didn’t believe it was happening until she had the official paperwork. Mooney added, “It’s lucky when something people want more of is something you want to make more of.”

The show’s popularity, like that of other Hallmark holiday content, continues to grow. Mooney theorized that it’s because viewers find comfort in its predictable tropes during turbulent times. Drew emphasized the show’s aspirational message, saying that it offers viewers “a world where good wins” and justice prevails.

“Mistletoe Murders” Season 2 premieres on November 7th on W Network and StackTV. New episodes will air every Friday.
