Fox’s Rob Stone Calls for Kirk Ferentz Statue Amidst Iowa’s Big Noon Kickoff Appearance

Iowa City, IA – As Fox’s “Big Noon Kickoff” sets up shop in Iowa City ahead of the highly anticipated matchup between No. 20 Iowa and No. 9 Oregon, the spotlight is also shining on Hawkeye head football coach Kirk Ferentz. Host Rob Stone lauded Ferentz’s remarkable 27-year tenure, praising his lasting impact on the program and the state.

Speaking to reporters on Friday, Stone expressed no surprise at Ferentz’s longevity, highlighting his class, integrity, and the winning tradition he has cultivated at Iowa. “Kirk Ferentz being here for as long as he has been doesn’t surprise me at all,” Stone stated. “I mean, that is a classy individual who represents this program at the highest level, gets wins, makes people proud of this program.”

Stone went even further, passionately advocating for a statue to honor Ferentz’s contributions. “My thing on Kirk Ferentz is, can we start building the statue right now for him? Like, can we pick the spot? Can we pick the pose? Because this guy deserves a statue, and he deserves it right now,” Stone exclaimed. “That’s what Kirk Ferentz means, not just to Iowa, not just to Iowa football, but to this great state of Iowa.”

Despite the Iowa-Oregon game airing on CBS at 2:30 p.m. CT, fans can catch “Big Noon Kickoff” live from the steps of the Old Capitol Building in Iowa City, starting at 7:30 a.m. CT on Saturday.
