Fri Nov 07 23:02:02 UTC 2025: Headline: UN Warns Gaza Still Faces Humanitarian Crisis Despite Aid Delivery

Gaza Strip – Despite a ceasefire and increased aid deliveries, the United Nations warns that the Gaza Strip remains in dire need of humanitarian assistance. While 37,000 metric tons of aid, primarily food, have entered Gaza since October 10, the UN emphasizes that this is insufficient to meet the immense needs of the population, which has been ravaged by Israeli bombardment.

UN spokesperson Farhan Haq criticized the limited access points for aid, noting that only two crossings are currently operational. Direct access to northern Gaza from Israel and southern Gaza from Egypt remains blocked, hindering the delivery of critical supplies.

Earlier this week, the UN reported distributing food parcels to one million Gazans since the ceasefire but stressed the ongoing race to prevent further loss of life. The World Food Programme urged the opening of all crossing points to flood the famine-stricken territory with aid, questioning the continued closure of northern crossings with Israel.

Palestinians continue to face severe shortages of food, water, medicine, and shelter, exacerbated by Israeli restrictions. Chris Gunness, former spokesperson for UNRWA, accused Israel of committing a war crime by obstructing aid to Gaza, highlighting the risk of malnutrition for tens of thousands of Palestinians, especially children.

The ceasefire, brokered by the United States, has been marred by renewed Israeli attacks, resulting in over 220 Palestinian deaths. Israel has also been carrying out demolitions in areas under its control east of the “yellow line.”

In a separate development, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office confirmed the receipt of the remains of one of the last six captives held by Hamas. The Israeli military confirmed the body’s transfer for identification in Tel Aviv. While Hamas released 20 surviving captives at the start of the truce, in exchange for the release of hundreds of Palestinian prisoners, disputes continue over the return of deceased captives. Hamas claims it needs proper equipment to recover bodies from the rubble, where thousands of Palestinians remain buried.
