Major Drug Cartel Busted in Multi-State Operation
Chennai, India – November 8, 2025 – The Tiruvallur District Police announced today the successful dismantling of a major organized synthetic drug cartel operating across multiple states in India. The operation resulted in the arrest of numerous individuals, including both domestic and foreign nationals, allegedly involved in trafficking methamphetamine and other narcotics.
The investigation began on October 14th, with the arrest of Muneer and Javeed, found in possession of a commercial quantity of methamphetamine. Their arrest led to the unraveling of a complex, inter-state network.
On October 23, D. Sibiraj, a prominent Instagram influencer running a dance studio in Chennai was apprehended, and more methamphetamine was seized.
Inspector-General of Police, North, Asra Garg, detailed that the cartel’s alleged kingpin, identified as Bende Wagne, 43, a Senegalese national, directed operations from Delhi using internet-based applications. Payments were made into bank accounts belonging to individuals in West Bengal, Nagaland, and Mizoram after which GPS coordinates were sent to buyers.
Wagne was apprehended in Delhi with the assistance of Delhi Police. Other key arrests included Michael Nnamdi, 43, a Nigerian national residing in Namakkal, and Kafita Yannick Tshimbo, 36, from DR Congo.
According to investigators, Wagne sourced the drugs from border regions in the northeast and distributed them to urban centers. The cartel utilized multiple SIM cards, duplicate identities, and used legitimate businesses as fronts.
“Investigation is ongoing to trace additional facilitators, including drug dealers, stash handlers, bank-account operatives, and inter-state carriers,” said Mr. Garg.
