Fri Nov 07 21:40:00 UTC 2025: ## Middle Tennessee Braces for Severe Storms Followed by Arctic Blast
Nashville, TN – Middle Tennessee is under a “First Alert Weather Day” today as the region faces the potential for strong to severe thunderstorms this afternoon and evening. WSMV is reporting that areas along and west of I-65 are at a Level 2 out of 5 risk for severe weather, while the rest of the Midstate is at a Level 1.
The primary threat from the storms, expected between 4 p.m. and 11 p.m., is heavy rain and damaging winds. While small hail is also possible, forecasters cannot rule out the possibility of an isolated tornado.
Following the threat of severe weather, Middle Tennessee will experience a dramatic temperature shift. A hard freeze is expected early Monday morning with temperatures dipping to 30 degrees, feeling even colder with wind chill values in the 20s or high teens. Some snow flurries are also possible. Tuesday morning will be even colder, with widespread temperatures in the 20s, potentially leading to a killing freeze.
The weekend forecast indicates a chance of isolated showers or thunderstorms Saturday evening, with a high of 72. Sunday will be breezy and chilly, with highs only reaching 48 and a chance of snow flurries, particularly along the Cumberland Plateau, as temperatures plummet through the 30s and below freezing overnight.
Next week will start with frigid conditions, as wind chills remain at or below freezing for most of Monday. However, the cold snap will be short-lived. Temperatures are expected to rebound quickly, with highs in the 50s on Tuesday and near 70 by Wednesday and Thursday under sunny skies.
