A flurry of airline route announcements signals continued growth and connectivity across the globe, with carriers launching new services, increasing frequencies on existing routes, and forging partnerships to expand their networks.

Batik Air is set to launch a weekly service between Langkawi, Malaysia, and Tashkent, Uzbekistan, on Dec. 14, catering to growing demand from the Uzbekistan market and complementing its existing Kuala Lumpur-Tashkent route.

Across the globe, JetBlue will begin seasonal flights to Destin-Fort Walton Beach, Florida, from Boston and New York JFK in March 2026, while Spirit Airlines has launched service between Fort Lauderdale and Key West, Florida.

Further expansion sees Jetstar introducing flights from Australia’s Sunshine Coast to Bali in March 2026, and Plus Ultra Lineas Aereas adding Buenos Aires to its network from Madrid in spring 2026.

SalamAir will connect Muscat, Oman, and Abha, Saudi Arabia, starting Dec. 16, and Porter Airlines has launched its first route outside North America, connecting Toronto with Cancun.

Ryanair is expanding its Turin base and introducing new routes, while Air Arabia has started flights between Ras Al Khaimah and Kazan, Russia. Breeze Airways is adding seven routes in the western U.S. and Florida but canceling three planned Burbank routes.

Finnair will operate a record number of flights to Thailand during the winter 2026-27 season, and Eurowings has launched Berlin-Abu Dhabi service. Turkish Airlines has resumed flights between Istanbul and Sulaymaniyah, Iraq, while Cathay Pacific has launched service between Hong Kong and Changsha. Air China will connect Beijing Capital and Abu Dhabi, and Emirates will increase capacity on its Dubai-Cairo route.

Volotea has launched a new domestic route in Spain, while Ryanair has begun winter service between Manchester and Rovaniemi, Finland, and announced a new Kosice-Malaga route. Qatar Airways and Air Algerie have signed a codeshare agreement. Delta Air Lines will resume flights to Tel Aviv, and ITA Airways will restore service between Rome and Tel Aviv.

airBaltic has launched direct flights between Gran Canaria and Ljubljana, while China Eastern Airlines is increasing frequency on its Shanghai-New Delhi service. IndiGo will launch flights between Bengaluru and Riyadh, and Hong Kong Airlines will resume flights between Hong Kong and Hanoi and Xi’an. Air New Zealand will offer seasonal flights between Christchurch and Rarotonga. FlyNamibia and Fastjet have announced a new partnership, and Ryanair plans to expand its network from Malmo Airport.
