Hyderabad, November 8, 2025 (The Hindu): Telangana Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy is demanding an explanation from BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) regarding allegations that the late Maganti Gopinath’s mother was prevented from seeing her son in the hospital. The Minister’s comments come amidst the ongoing Jubilee Hills byelection.
Reddy accuses KTR and BRS chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) of exploiting public sympathy following Gopinath’s death to gain votes in the upcoming byelection. He specifically questioned KTR’s treatment of Gopinath’s mother, alleging she was denied access to her son in the ICU despite repeated requests.
Speaking during a campaign tour in Borabanda, Reddy further accused the KCR family of attempting to capitalize on the sentiments surrounding Gopinath’s widow and BRS candidate, Maganti Sunitha, to garner sympathy votes.
The Minister also alleged that KTR had sidelined his own sister, K. Kavitha, and is now using funds allegedly acquired through commissions from the Kaleshwaram project to influence the Jubilee Hills byelection.
Reddy concluded by criticizing KTR’s apparent shift in political allegiances, noting that while he previously directed Telangana software engineers protesting N. Chandrababu Naidu’s arrest to protest in Andhra Pradesh, he is now seeking votes from Telugu Desam sympathizers.
