Bus Owner Arrested in Deadly Andhra Pradesh Accident
KURNOOL, INDIA – November 7, 2025 – Police in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh, have arrested Vemuri Vinod Kumar, the owner of V Kaveri private travel bus, in connection with the fatal accident on October 24th that claimed the lives of 19 passengers. The bus collided with a motorcycle lying on National Highway 44 near Chinnatekur village after the rider fell.
The Ulindakonda police had already arrested the bus driver, Miriyala Lakshmaiah, on October 28th and named him as Accused 1. Vinod Kumar, designated as Accused 2, was taken into custody on Friday morning and presented before the Judicial First Class Magistrate (JFCM), Special Mobile Court for remand.
Police investigation revealed several violations in the bus’s design and a failure to comply with fundamental safety regulations by the bus management. The incident has sparked public outcry, prompting authorities to crack down on negligence within the private transportation sector.
