‘The Witcher’ Wraps Filming on Final Season: Cast and Crew Reflect on End of an Era

[CITY, STATE] – [Date] – Filming has officially concluded on the fifth and final season of Netflix’s fantasy epic, “The Witcher,” marking the end of a significant chapter for the cast, crew, and fans alike. GamesRadar+ was granted exclusive access to reactions from key figures, including showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich and cast members Joey Batey and Freya Allan.

Hissrich, currently immersed in post-production for season five, expressed a sense of accomplishment rather than sadness. “Instead of feeling dour, Hissrich instead opted to look back on The Witcher’s five seasons through a lens of triumph and celebration.” She acknowledged the series’ challenges, including the departure of original lead Henry Cavill after season three, extensive international filming across 11 countries, and studio changes, but emphasized the celebratory mood surrounding the successful completion of five seasons, a feat many shows don’t achieve.

For the cast, the reality of saying goodbye is sinking in slowly. Joey Batey, known for his portrayal of the beloved bard Jaskier, admitted to experiencing “conflicting emotions.” “There’s a little bit of relief, there’s a little bit of loss and sorrow… Did have a little bit of a cry, if I’m honest? Yeah.” he confessed to GamesRadar+. The end of an era in the life of an actor who portrayed Jaskier for many years.

Freya Allan, who plays Ciri, shared similar sentiments, noting excitement for future roles but acknowledging the ongoing process of accepting the show’s ending. “I’m in a place right now where I’m trying to just decompress after a mammoth season,” Allan stated.

“The Witcher” season 4 is slated to premiere on Netflix on October 30th, with the fifth and final season expected to follow at a later date.
