Trump Claims Credit for India-Pakistan Peace, Sparks Controversy

Miami, FL – November 6, 2025 – In a speech at the America Business Forum in Miami on Wednesday, U.S. President Donald Trump asserted that he brokered peace between India and Pakistan in May of this year. Trump claimed he threatened to withdraw trade deals from both nations if they did not cease military conflict, leading to a swift resolution.

“I said, ‘I’m not going to make any trade deals with you guys unless you agree to peace,'” Trump stated, adding that he received a call a day later announcing a peace agreement.

This claim has been a recurring theme for Trump since May 10th, when he first announced a ceasefire agreement on social media, attributing it to U.S. mediation. He has since repeated the assertion over 60 times.

However, India has consistently refuted any third-party intervention in the matter. Sources indicate that India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7th in response to a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, targeting infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. An understanding to end the conflict was reached on May 10th after several days of cross-border strikes.

According to an editorial in “The Hindu”, India and Pakistan reached the understanding of a cease fire after four days of intense cross-border drone and missile strikes

President Trump further stated that he helped resolve other conflicts, including those between Israel and Iran, Egypt and Ethiopia, Armenia and Azerbaijan, and Cambodia and Thailand. He emphasized that America is achieving peace through strength, deterring potential adversaries.

The President concluded by discussing new trade deals with China, Japan, and Malaysia.
