Man Arrested for Land Grabbing, Forgery in Madhavaram
Chennai, November 6, 2025 – The Central Crime Branch (CCB) has apprehended a man for allegedly seizing a prime piece of real estate in Madhavaram through forged documents. Chandran, 58, of Kolathur, was arrested on Tuesday in connection with the illegal acquisition of a 2,134 sq. ft property valued at approximately ₹3 crore.
According to police reports, Chandran fabricated Aadhaar, PAN, and property ownership documents without the knowledge of the legitimate owner, Priyanka, 30, a jewellery workshop owner from Kolathur. He then used these falsified documents to obtain an electricity connection from the Kolathur EB office, claiming ownership of the land located in Thanikachalam Nagar, Ponniammanmedu. He subsequently constructed a two-story building on the property.
Priyanka filed a complaint on October 22nd, prompting the CCB’s Land Grabbing Investigation Wing to initiate a probe. The investigation led to Chandran’s arrest and subsequent remand to Puzhal Central Prison.
Authorities revealed that this is not Chandran’s first brush with the law. He was previously arrested by the Tiruvallur District Crime Branch for allegedly defrauding individuals by promising to facilitate the purchase of hospital land. The investigation into the current land grabbing case is ongoing.
