Mon Nov 03 17:50:59 UTC 2025: Mamdani Leads Cuomo by 14.7 Points in NYC Mayoral Race Final Stretch
New York, NY – With early voting now concluded, New York City residents are gearing up to cast their ballots on November 4th to elect their next mayor. According to a RealClearPolitics poll average, Democratic nominee Zohran Mamdani currently holds a significant lead, polling at 45.8 percent. This gives the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) member a 14.7-point advantage over independent candidate Andrew Cuomo (31.1 percent) and a 28.5-point lead over Republican Curtis Sliwa (17.3 percent).
The race has seen a surge in early voting, with 734,317 ballots cast – more than four times the number in the 2021 mayoral election. Mamdani’s progressive platform, which includes proposals for universal childcare, free public transportation, and rent freezes, appears to be energizing liberal voters across the city.
This year’s election is particularly notable as a three-way contest, pitting progressive, establishment, and conservative ideologies against each other in the nation’s largest city. The current mayor, Eric Adams, withdrew his candidacy earlier this year following a federal criminal indictment, later dismissed.
Polling organizations like Emerson College, Marist College, and Quinnipiac University regularly conduct surveys, employing random sampling to gauge voter sentiment and candidate preferences. While polls carry a margin of error, aggregating results can help to reduce bias.
Unlike the primaries, which used ranked-choice voting, the general election will use a first-past-the-post system. With over 5.1 million registered voters in New York City, the election outcome will be determined on November 4th. Polling stations will be open at varying times from 6 AM to 9 PM.
