Osmania Hospital to Conduct Postmortems in Chevella Bus Accident, Death Toll at 19

Hyderabad, Telangana – November 3, 2025 – The Telangana government, led by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, has decided that all postmortem examinations for the victims of the tragic bus accident in Chevella will be conducted at Osmania General Hospital in Hyderabad. This decision aims to streamline the process and ensure efficient handling of the deceased.

The accident, which occurred earlier today, involved a bus en route from Tandur to Hyderabad. Initial reports indicate that the bus departed Tandur around 5:00 AM, carrying approximately 30 passengers, many of whom were employees commuting to the city.

As of this report, Additional DGP Mahesh Bhagwat has confirmed 19 fatalities. Authorities fear the death toll may rise as rescue and recovery operations continue. Family members of the victims have begun arriving at Osmania Hospital, where scenes of mourning are unfolding.

Law and Order DG Mahesh Bhagwat is personally overseeing the police investigation into the cause of the accident. A team led by the Rajendranagar DCP is conducting on-site investigations, with the Clues Team already gathering evidence.

Local villagers have reportedly staged a protest at the accident site. This incident comes nearly a year after a similar tragedy in December when five people died near Mirjaguda in a truck collision.

In response to the tragedy, the government has announced an ex-gratia payment of ₹5 lakh to the families of the deceased.
