Bihar Elections Heat Up as Modi and Shah Rally Support, Opposition Strikes Back
Patna, India – November 3, 2025 – The Bihar Assembly elections are reaching a fever pitch as major political players intensify their campaigning efforts. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alongside Union Minister Amit Shah, led the NDA campaign, while Congress leader Rahul Gandhi rallied support for the opposition INDIA bloc.
PM Modi held roadshow in Patna, traditionally a BJP stronghold, on Sunday, November 2nd. He is scheduled to address rallies in Saharsa and Katihar today, while Amit Shah has meetings planned in Sheohar, Sitamarhi, and Madhubani. Congress General Secretary Priyanka Vadra will also be holding rallies in Saharsa and Lakhisarai. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has four rallies scheduled across the state as well.
The absence of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar from Modi’s Patna roadshow has drawn attention, particularly as he participated in a similar event during last year’s Lok Sabha polls.
The election is marked by high female participation and assertive youth voting, making the outcome less predictable and pushing parties to focus on social welfare, education, and governance. The CPI(ML) Liberation, with AIPWA, has launched a women-centric campaign in 20 constituencies, addressing issues like gender-based violence and microfinance debt.
Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar has assured peaceful voting, emphasizing zero tolerance for violence following recent incidents.
The political rhetoric has sharpened, with PM Modi alleging that Tejashwi Yadav’s candidacy was forced upon the Congress. Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi has criticized Modi, questioning his claims of a “56-inch chest.”
