Sat Nov 01 23:50:00 UTC 2025: Jagan Slams Naidu’s Cyclone Response, Accuses Government of Neglecting Farmers

Amaravati: YSRCP Chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has sharply criticized Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s handling of the recent Montha cyclone, accusing the government of failing to adequately support farmers affected by the disaster. Jagan questioned Naidu’s claims of effective management, calling them “empty boasts.”

He pointed out that farmers have suffered significant losses due to adverse weather conditions during the TDP-led coalition’s 18-month rule, enduring nearly 16 such events. Jagan alleged that the government has failed to disburse ₹600 crore in pending input subsidies and has not provided any compensation for crop damage.

The former Chief Minister lamented the cancellation of the free crop insurance scheme implemented during his tenure, arguing that it would have provided crucial support to farmers during this crisis. He questioned how canceling a pro-farmer scheme could be considered “better management.”

Jagan highlighted the estimated 1.5 million acres of crop damage caused by the cyclone and questioned who would support farmers without crop insurance. He also challenged Naidu’s claims of effective management, questioning why eight people died during the cyclone.

“If the cyclone conditions were managed well, why did eight people die?” Jagan asked. “Despite such terrible planning, there is no intention to do good in you. It’s all lies and empty boasts.”
