Spielberg and Williams Reunite for 30th Collaboration on Upcoming UFO Film

Los Angeles, CA – The legendary partnership between director Steven Spielberg and composer John Williams is set to continue with Spielberg’s upcoming UFO film, marking their 30th collaboration. The news was confirmed by Juilliard School president Damian Woetzel during an event honoring Williams.

“The trigger is John Williams, who is in Los Angeles doing what he does best: he is working with Steven Spielberg on his next film. And that is cause for joy,” Woetzel stated.

The duo’s iconic collaborations span decades and include cinematic masterpieces such as “Indiana Jones,” “Jaws,” “E.T.,” “Jurassic Park,” and “Saving Private Ryan.”

While details about the UFO project remain scarce, a star-studded cast has been confirmed, featuring Emily Blunt, Josh O’Connor, Colman Domingo, Eve Hewson, and Colin Firth.

Despite his decades of success, Williams has expressed his reservations about film music, stating earlier this year, “I’ve never been much of a fan of film music… The idea that film music has the same place in the concert hall as the best classical music is a mistake, in my opinion.”

However, fans can rejoice as Williams clarified in 2023 that he has no plans to retire anytime soon, stating, “I’ve got 10 more years to go. I’ll be around for a while! Also, you can’t ‘retire’ from music. It’s like breathing. It’s your life. It’s my life. A day without music is a mistake.”

Spielberg’s highly anticipated UFO film is slated for release in 2026.
