Hyderabad, India – Social media is buzzing after a playful exchange between actor Mahesh Babu and director SS Rajamouli hinted at the potential star-studded cast of their upcoming film, tentatively titled “SSMB29.” In a series of posts on Saturday night, Mahesh Babu playfully pressured Rajamouli for updates on the film, which began shooting almost a year ago.
The banter began with Mahesh Babu stating, “It’s November already @ssrajamouli.” Rajamouli responded in Telugu, jokingly asking if Babu was planning to review movies this month.
However, Mahesh Babu upped the ante, suggesting that Priyanka Chopra and Prithviraj Sukumaran are officially part of the project. “Fyi, our Desi girl has been posting every street of Hyderabad on her Insta stories since January @priyankachopra,” he posted.
Priyanka Chopra joined the exchange, teasing, “Helloooo!! hero!!! You want me to leak all the stories you share with me on set?”
Mahesh Babu didn’t stop there, adding, “Surprise aaa? You mean to say, @PrithviOfficial is also a surprise?” Prithviraj Sukumaran responded, “Sir @ssrajamouli, I’m running out of alibis for these Hyderabad ‘vacations’. If I keep this up any longer, my family will start doubting me.”
“SSMB29” is described as a globe-trotting jungle adventure, with Mahesh Babu portraying a rugged explorer akin to Indiana Jones. Filming has taken place across India and in the forests of Kenya. According to IMDb, the film will feature an archaeologist with traits of Lord Hanuman searching for adventure in the jungles of Africa and the Amazon.
Industry sources suggest a grand event is scheduled for November 16th at Ramoji Film City, where the film’s title and first look will be revealed. Jio Hotstar will reportedly provide live coverage of the event.
“SSMB29” is currently scheduled for a 2027 release. The film is being produced by veteran Tollywood filmmaker Narayana under the banner Sri durga Arts.
