Kerala Election Officials Launch ‘SIR Reels Challenge’ to Boost Voter List Revision Awareness

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, November 2, 2025 – In an effort to engage the public, particularly young voters, with the upcoming Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voters list, election officials in Kerala have announced the “SIR Reels Challenge.” The challenge, running from November 4th to December 4th, encourages participants to create innovative and engaging short-form videos (reels) on social media that promote awareness about the SIR process.

Cash prizes will be awarded for the best entries, which must be uploaded and tagged on the official social media pages of CEO Kerala. Officials hope the reels challenge will make the often-unexciting bureaucratic process more accessible and interesting to the public.

The month-long, house-to-house enumeration phase of the SIR begins on November 4th. Registered voters as of October 27, 2025, will receive the SIR enumeration form. Following the publication of draft rolls on December 9th, the verification phase will begin, with the final voter rolls set to be published on February 7th.

The SIR has met with opposition from major political parties, excluding the BJP. The State Cabinet has scheduled an all-party meeting for November 5th at 4:00 PM to address these concerns, especially given the proximity to the upcoming local body polls.
