Kevin Gausman of the Toronto Blue Jays pitched brilliantly in Game 6 of the World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers, but, like in Game 2, his effort was overshadowed by Dodgers’ pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto. Despite a dominant start, one bad inning where he allowed three runs was enough for the Dodgers to secure a 3-1 victory, staving off elimination. Yamamoto stifled the Blue Jays’ offense, allowing only one run. The Blue Jays now face a winner-take-all Game 7. Manager John Schneider hinted that Gausman might even be available out of the bullpen.

Dodgers Force Game 7 Despite Gausman’s Gem; Yamamoto Shines Again
TORONTO – Kevin Gausman delivered another masterful performance for the Toronto Blue Jays in Game 6 of the World Series, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Los Angeles Dodgers’ Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who once again proved to be Gausman’s kryptonite. The Dodgers defeated the Blue Jays 3-1, forcing a decisive Game 7 at Rogers Centre.
Gausman was nearly untouchable through five innings, racking up eight strikeouts in the first three, tying a World Series record. However, a shaky sixth inning proved to be his undoing. After an intentional walk to Shohei Ohtani, Will Smith and Mookie Betts delivered clutch RBI hits, plating all three of the Dodgers’ runs.
Yamamoto, meanwhile, continued his dominance, pitching six innings of one-run ball and silencing the Blue Jays’ bats. Toronto threatened in the sixth, mounting a two-out rally, but Yamamoto slammed the door, striking out Daulton Varsho to end the inning.
“Both times we’ve faced each other, it’s been a pretty good pitched game on both sides,” Gausman acknowledged. “He’s pretty good, especially right now. He’s pretty locked in.”
Despite the loss, Gausman’s performance has been a bright spot for the Blue Jays. Manager John Schneider praised Gausman’s effort, stating, “I don’t want to overlook what Kev did, too… We were damn close to getting it done.”
Looking ahead to the crucial Game 7, Schneider didn’t rule out the possibility of using Gausman out of the bullpen. Gausman, ever the competitor, declared his readiness to pitch in any capacity: “Yeah, I mean, it’s Game 7. I’ll do whatever… All hands on deck tomorrow, for sure.”
