IED Attack Kills Six Pakistani Soldiers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Peshawar, Pakistan – October 30, 2025 – At least six Pakistani soldiers, including a captain, were killed in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast targeting a security forces convoy in the Kurram tribal district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, according to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), the military’s media wing.

The attack occurred in the Sultani area bordering Afghanistan. Following the explosion, security forces engaged in a gunbattle with the attackers, resulting in the deaths of seven terrorists.

“The terrorists opened fire on the convoy while it was moving through the area. During the engagement, an improvised explosive device (IED) detonated near Dogar, causing heavy casualties,” said the ISPR in a statement.

The area has been cordoned off, and a search operation is underway to locate any remaining perpetrators.

The attack comes amidst a recent spike in terrorist activities in Pakistan, particularly in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan regions. These attacks often target police, law enforcement, and security forces. This surge in violence follows the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan’s (TTP) decision to break a ceasefire agreement with the Pakistani government in 2022.

Just days prior to this incident, on Sunday, Pakistani security forces claimed to have foiled two major infiltration attempts from Afghanistan, killing 25 militants and seizing a large cache of weapons.
