NEW YORK (WABC) — Lottery fever is sweeping the nation as the Mega Millions jackpot reached an impressive $714 million ($334.1 million cash option). The winning numbers for Tuesday’s drawing were: 53-2-61-19-33 Mega Ball: 14.

This marks only the ninth time in Mega Millions history that the jackpot has surpassed $700 million. The last time the jackpot was won was on June 27 in Virginia, awarding a $348 million prize. A jackpot of this size hasn’t been seen since December 27, 2024, when a winning ticket in California claimed a staggering $1.269 billion.

Tickets cost $5 and include a “Megaplier,” potentially multiplying non-jackpot prizes by up to 10 times. Half of each ticket sale remains in the state where it was sold, funding education, retailer commissions, and other designated good causes.

While the odds of winning any Mega Millions prize are 1 in 23, the odds of hitting the jackpot remain slim at 1 in 290,472,336. Mega Millions is played in 45 states, as well as Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
