Tue Oct 28 03:40:00 UTC 2025: ## Nuggets Dominate Suns in Home Opener Behind Jokic’s Triple-Double
DENVER – Nikola Jokic recorded his second triple-double of the season with 14 points, 14 rebounds, and a stellar 15 assists, leading the Denver Nuggets to a decisive 133-111 victory over the Phoenix Suns in their home opener Saturday night. Despite a quiet shooting night, Jokic’s all-around performance fueled the Nuggets’ offense.
Jamal Murray contributed 23 points, further bolstering the Nuggets’ attack, including a buzzer-beating 55-foot jumper at the end of the first quarter and a key 3-pointer early in the fourth. Aaron Gordon followed up his career-high 50-point performance with 17 points.
The Suns, playing on the second night of a back-to-back and without center Mark Williams due to a knee injury, were led by Devin Booker’s 31 points. Grayson Allen added 17 points, but the Suns struggled to keep pace with the Nuggets’ offensive firepower.
After falling behind by 20 points in the third quarter, the Suns briefly rallied with a 13-2 run, cutting the deficit to 83-74. However, the Nuggets responded with an 11-0 run to regain control, carrying a 100-83 lead into the final frame. While the Suns threatened again in the fourth, Denver sealed the win with a 14-2 run, showcasing their dominance.
Jokic now has 166 career regular season triple-doubles, placing him third all-time behind Russell Westbrook (203) and Oscar Robertson (181). He also has an additional 18 triple-doubles in the playoffs.
Looking ahead, the Phoenix Suns will travel to face the Utah Jazz on Monday night, while the Denver Nuggets will be on the road against the Minnesota Timberwolves, also on Monday night.
