Hyderabad, India – October 28, 2025 – A 30-year-old man, believed to be a native of Bihar, died in Hyderabad on Monday after climbing a high-tension electric pole and subsequently jumping despite hours of rescue attempts. The incident occurred in Abdullapurmet, where the man scaled the pole around 7:30 a.m. Witnesses reported he appeared to be intoxicated.

Emergency services, including the Fire Department, Electricity Transco, Medical and Revenue Departments, and the Disaster Response Force (HYDRAA), were dispatched to the scene. A skylift was deployed in an attempt to safely retrieve the man. However, after several hours, he unexpectedly jumped from the pole around 3:00 p.m., landing in a sand pit.

The man sustained severe injuries and was immediately transported to Osmania General Hospital. He succumbed to his injuries at approximately 4:00 p.m. Officials stated that the man may have had pre-existing health conditions.
