Kochi, India – October 27, 2025 – Cochin University of Science and Technology (Cusat) unveiled its cutting-edge high-performance computing (HPC) facility, “Tejaswi,” in a ceremony presided over by Higher Education Minister R. Bindu. The project, funded through the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB), represents a significant investment in scientific research infrastructure for the state.

Minister Bindu hailed Tejaswi and the associated Cusat Analytical Instruments Facility (CAIF) as crucial assets for future scientific advancement. Vice-Chancellor M. Junaid Bushiri echoed this sentiment during the inauguration.

Tejaswi possesses a sustained capacity of 350 teraflops, comprising 102 compute nodes, nine GPU nodes, and two petabytes of file storage. This powerful infrastructure is designed to support advanced research in critical areas such as climate modeling, computational engineering, artificial intelligence, and machine learning.

The project received ₹26 crore in assistance from the KIIFB’s ₹230 crore allocation, with ₹118 crore specifically designated for procuring advanced research instruments. These instruments have been integrated into the CAIF, creating a centralized hub for researchers with access to a total of 206 advanced instruments.
