Mon Oct 27 07:00:00 UTC 2025: ## News Article: Michigan to “Fall Back” This Weekend, Gaining an Hour of Sleep

LANSING, MI – Prepare to set your clocks back! Michigan residents will gain an extra hour of sleep this weekend as Daylight Saving Time (DST) officially ends at 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, November 2nd. Remember to manually set your clocks back one hour before heading to bed on Saturday, November 1st.

The end of DST means sunrise and sunset will both occur an hour earlier. As the Northern Hemisphere approaches the winter solstice on December 21st at 8:03 a.m. EST, the days will continue to grow shorter.

Daylight Saving Time is designed to shift daylight hours to align with when people are most active. Proponents argue that it conserves energy by reducing the need for artificial lighting during the evening hours in warmer months.

While often referred to as “Daylight Savings Time,” the correct term is “Daylight Saving Time” (singular “saving”).

The return to standard time marks a period of shorter daylight hours until the winter solstice. After December 21st, the days will gradually lengthen again until mid-June.

Mark your calendars! Daylight Saving Time will resume on March 8, 2026, the second Sunday in March. At that time, clocks will spring forward one hour, pushing sunrise and sunset later into the day.
