Karnataka Minister Condemns MLA’s “Abusive” Language, Threatens Legal Action

Belagavi, India – October 27, 2025 – Karnataka Minister for Large and Medium Industries and Infrastructure Development, M.B. Patil, has issued a strong rebuke of Vijayapura MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal for using what he described as “abusive and insulting” language against him.

Speaking to reporters in Vijayapura on Monday, Minister Patil demanded Yatnal exercise restraint. “These words are obviously insulting and definitely not acceptable. I am asking him to exercise restraint while speaking about me. I will not tolerate this. If he continues making such comments, he will face appropriate legal action,” Patil stated.

The Minister vehemently denied Yatnal’s claims that his supporters are involved in land mafia activities, calling the accusations “false and baseless.” He challenged Yatnal to provide evidence of any illegal activity by his followers, promising to order inquiries and ensure legal action is taken if the accusations are substantiated.

Patil also addressed allegations of illegal land purchases, stating that he purchased approximately 135 acres of land in Makanapur village several years ago. He offered to donate the land to Yatnal if any illegality can be proven.

Responding to Yatnal’s threat to organize a mega-rally of Lingayat math heads against him, Patil welcomed the move, promising a larger counter-rally in response. He dismissed Yatnal’s claims of Hindutva leadership as opportunistic, highlighting Yatnal’s past participation in Muslim prayers and Basava Dharma rallies.

Patil also clarified his stance on Kaneri Math seer Sri Adrushya Kadasiddeshwar Swami, stating that he would welcome the seer if he apologises for using abusive words against Lingayat seers.

The escalating tensions between the two politicians are likely to further fuel political discourse in Karnataka in the coming weeks.
