Mon Oct 27 06:26:58 UTC 2025: Headline: Reaves Explodes for 51 as Lakers Topple Kings Despite Missing Doncic and James

SACRAMENTO, CA – Austin Reaves delivered a career-defining performance, erupting for 51 points to lead the Los Angeles Lakers to a 127-120 victory over the Sacramento Kings on Sunday night. The Lakers, already without LeBron James (back injury), were further depleted by a late scratch from Luka Doncic (finger and lower-leg injuries), placing even more responsibility on Reaves’ shoulders.

Reaves not only surpassed his previous career high of 45 points, but nearly secured a triple-double, finishing with 11 rebounds and nine assists. His clutch performance included six 3-pointers, with three crucial shots coming during a fourth-quarter run that flipped a deficit into a commanding lead for the Lakers.

Deandre Ayton added a dominant performance in the paint, securing a game-high 15 rebounds to go along with his 22 points, helping LA outrebound the Kings 50 to 43. The Lakers also capitalized on fouls, outscoring Sacramento 41-12 from the free throw line.

Rui Hachimura chipped in with 18 points, and Jake LaRavia and Marcus Smart each added 11 for the Lakers.

Zach LaVine led the Kings with 32 points, while Domantas Sabonis (10 points, 14 rebounds) and Dennis Schroeder (18 points, 12 assists) recorded double-doubles. Despite outscoring the Lakers from beyond the arc, Sacramento couldn’t overcome Reaves’ scoring outburst and the Lakers’ dominance at the free throw line.
