One Dead, 18 Injured in Kerala Bus Accident

KOTTAYAM, INDIA – October 27, 2025 – A tourist bus overturned on the MC Road at Kuruvilangad in the Kottayam district of Kerala in the early hours of Monday morning, resulting in one fatality and injuries to 18 others.

The deceased has been identified as 45-year-old Sindhya, a resident of Iritty in Kannur.

The bus, carrying 49 passengers from Thiruvananthapuram to Iritty, reportedly overturned while navigating a curve near the Cheenkalla church at approximately 2:00 AM.

According to police reports, the condition of four of the injured is considered critical. All the injured were promptly transported to Kottayam Medical College Hospital (MCH) and nearby private hospitals for medical treatment. Those with critical injuries were moved to the Kottayam MCH, while other injured people are treated at a private hospital at Monippally

Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the precise cause of the accident.
