PORTLAND, Ore. – Northwest Oregon is grappling with a First Alert Weather Day as a powerful storm system brings heavy winds, torrential rain, and possible thunderstorms to the region on Saturday. The severe weather has caused widespread power outages, impacting thousands of residents.

According to initial reports, approximately 600 Pacific Power customers in the Astoria area were affected by a power outage. As of the latest updates, Portland General Electric (PGE) reported roughly 24,000 customers affected by approximately 196 separate outages.

While power has been restored to many customers in the Portland area, significant numbers remain without electricity. PGE reports about 13,500 customers without power in the Portland area.
