Houston Braces for Double Dose of Severe Weather Saturday

Houston, TX – October 25, 2025 – Houston and surrounding areas are under threat of severe weather and potential flooding this Saturday, October 25th, according to KPRC 2 meteorologists Daji Aswad, Brittany Begley, and Justin Stapleton. Residents are urged to stay weather-aware as two distinct waves of storms are expected to roll through.

The first round is forecast to hit the Brazos Valley around 3 AM, moving eastward and reaching Houston by approximately 6 AM. These early morning storms may bring strong winds, heavy rain, and the potential for street flooding. Sunrise activities are strongly discouraged. The first wave should clear the coast by 8 AM, with Houston experiencing mostly dry conditions by 10 AM, although isolated pop-up storms remain a possibility throughout the day.

A second, potentially more impactful wave of storms is anticipated to arrive after sunset, associated with a cold front. The storms are expected to reach the Brazos Valley between 7 PM and 8 PM, and Houston between 9 PM and 11 PM. While this front is not expected to stall, it could delay late-night plans. These storms should race to the coast by 1 AM, ending the severe weather and flood threat for the weekend.

Due to the region’s recent dry spell, the potential for flash flooding is elevated, with a 2 out of 4 threat level declared. An isolated tornado cannot be ruled out. Residents are strongly advised to keep their phones on with alerts enabled to receive warnings.
