Laurel Hollow Native Marshall Warren to Make NHL Debut for Islanders
Uniondale, NY – Long Island hockey dreams are coming true as Laurel Hollow native Marshall Warren is set to make his NHL debut for the New York Islanders on Saturday against the Philadelphia Flyers. The moment marks the culmination of years of hard work, unwavering family support, and a deep connection to the Islanders organization.
Warren, a defenseman who grew up attending Islanders Iceworks as a kid, participating in summer camps and watching Islanders practices as a kid. He’s always been diehard fan of the team. The player spent his youth connecting with players, staff, and even the Zamboni drivers. Following a strong training camp and an impressive start to his season with the Bridgeport Islanders, where he earned AHL Player of the Week honors, Warren received the call-up he’s been dreaming of.
“It’s pretty emotional, it’s been a crazy journey,” Warren said. “I was driving here thinking about how I was a little kid at Iceworks, skating in that Islanders program and I never would have thought I’d be in this position. It’s surreal, I don’t have any words for it.”
Islanders Head Coach Patrick Roy praised Warren’s performance, noting that the call-up is “rewarded for how well he’s been doing.” Teammate Bo Horvat echoed the sentiment, highlighting Warren’s positive attitude and work ethic. “He’s just super happy to be here, he has a smile on his face every day,” Horvat said. “He works hard every day on the ice and in the gym, we’re happy to have him up.”
Warren joins Kyle Palmieri and Chris Ferraro as the only Long Island natives to debut for the Islanders. He’s ready for the moment.
Warren, who scored in the preseason opener against the Flyers, is ready to embrace the opportunity and contribute to his hometown team.
