Sun Oct 26 00:20:00 UTC 2025: ## Chula Vista Baseball Coaches Beam with Pride as Former Prodigy Alejandro Kirk Shines in World Series
Chula Vista, CA – Long before he was catching pitches for the Toronto Blue Jays in the Major League Baseball playoffs, Alejandro Kirk was turning heads on a Chula Vista baseball field. Now, as he stars in the World Series, his former coaches are filled with pride, remembering the raw talent that made him stand out even as a young player.
Victor Sandoval, who first scouted Kirk in Tijuana, invited him to play in the United States, recalling, “They were looking to play within the United States, so I said look I got a team in the states. Would you like to come and play?”
Sandoval, along with Adan Sandoval, coached Kirk on the Chula Vista South Pony team and Young Guns travel baseball team. Victor remembers Kirk’s immediate impact, recounting, “The first pitch was a home run. It was deep. I think the ball is still traveling. I mean, that’s how good that kid was.”
Beyond his natural ability, Victor emphasizes Kirk’s exceptional work ethic and attitude. “He was the kind of kid he’ll get there. He’ll go out to the corner, start warming up, stretching out. You can see it right away from the other kids.” Adan adds that Alejandro was always a focused player, win or lose, showcasing remarkable consistency.
The Sandovals now aim to inspire the next generation of baseball players through their Young Guns baseball program, using Kirk as a prime example of what can be achieved through hard work and dedication. Adan shares, “I would tell them dream big. I show them pictures just to kind of motivate the youth. You know to work hard to set goals for themselves because baseball is one of the hardest sports to play. But if you put your mind to it you put work ethic, and you grind.”
While self-proclaimed Dodger fans, the Sandovals admit this World Series is different. Alongside their usual rooting interest, they’ll be passionately cheering for Kirk. “We’re going to root him on every at-bat. Every time he’s out there calling pitches, you know we want the best for him,” Adan said.
The success of Alejandro Kirk is not only a testament to his own dedication but also a source of immense pride for the Chula Vista baseball community that witnessed his rise.
