Sat Oct 25 06:30:00 UTC 2025: ## Silent Hill Producer Dismisses AI Threat to Series’ Creative Vision

Tokyo, Japan – A debate is brewing in the gaming industry over the future role of Artificial Intelligence in game development, sparked by comments from renowned developer Hideo Kojima. Kojima recently cautioned against the industry’s reliance on remakes and sequels, suggesting that AI will eventually be able to create them. However, Motoi Okamoto, producer of the upcoming Silent Hill f, has strongly refuted the idea that AI could replicate the human creativity crucial to the series’ success, particularly its bold new direction.

Okamoto was responding to Kojima’s comments on social media, stating that while AI might be capable of generating a generic Silent Hill sequel, it would be unlikely to make the creative leaps that define Silent Hill f. He pointed specifically to the game’s departure from the series’ traditional setting, moving to 1960s Japan, and the decision to bring on Ryukishi07 as writer, calling these choices “bold” and beyond AI’s capabilities.

It would be quite difficult for AI to replace works that take a significant departure from the original path of the series, like Silent Hill f,” Okamoto stated.

Silent Hill f, developed by Konami, has garnered attention for its unique setting and storytelling. The game follows Hinako Shimizu, a teenager struggling with societal pressures in rural Japan. Since its release at the end of September for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X and S, it has sold 1 million copies.

Okamoto’s comments come amid a broader industry discussion about the potential (and potential pitfalls) of AI in creative fields. He previously revealed that Konami unveiled three new Silent Hill titles simultaneously to reassure both longtime fans and newcomers of the company’s commitment to revitalizing the horror franchise after a decade of silence.

Konami is keen to attract new fans to the franchise and aims to achieve this with the highly-anticipated Silent Hill 2 Remake, which has been designed for half new customers and half old customers. Silent Hill 2 Remake has already sold 2.5 million copies worldwide, which pushes sales of the franchise overall to 10 million.
