Detroit, MI – Lottery fever swept the nation on Friday as the Mega Millions jackpot soared to an estimated $680 million, with a cash option of $318.2 million. The winning numbers for the October 24th drawing are: 18, 56, 31, 11, and 51, with the Mega Ball being 24.
While it remains to be seen if a lucky ticket holder has matched all six numbers, hopeful players are urged to check their tickets against the official results.
The Mega Millions lottery is played by selecting five white ball numbers from 1 to 70, and one gold Mega Ball number from 1 to 24. Tickets cost $5, and players can opt for a “Quick Pick” to have their numbers randomly selected.
Mega Millions drawings are held every Tuesday and Friday at 11 p.m. In Michigan, players can purchase tickets in stores and online until 10:45 p.m. on the night of the drawing.
The lottery has retired its Megaplier feature, and now includes a built-in multiplier that randomly increases non-jackpot prizes by two, three, four, five or 10 times at the time of purchase.
The odds of winning the Mega Millions jackpot are 1 in 290,472,336. Winners have the option of receiving their prize as an annuity, paid out over 30 years with increasing annual payments, or as a one-time cash lump sum.
If there are multiple winners, the jackpot is split equally among all winning tickets.
The next Mega Millions drawing will take place on Tuesday, October 28th. Results can be viewed on the Mega Millions website, the Michigan Lottery website, and on YouTube.
