According to CHP Officer Ross Lee, a 57-year-old San Jose man driving a Hyundai lost control of his vehicle on the northbound ramp and struck a man in his 40s who was standing on the right shoulder. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. His name has not yet been released as the investigation is ongoing.

The collision prompted a three-hour closure of the ramp while CHP officers investigated the scene.
